MAI is one of the three madrasahs under the Joint Madrasah System in Singapore. It is an Islamic-inspired academic school that is focused on nurturing students who excel academically, are grounded in Islamic values, and are connected to the community with a keen sense of service.

Application Procedures

Application for enrolment into MAI’s Sec 1 (2017) Express, from 1st to 28th November 2016 5pm.

Application form may be obtained during application at the Madrasah or downloaded here.

Group 1 –               Students from affiliates under JMS (Madrasah Al-Irsyad Zuhri Al-Islamiah). Application through Madrasah Irsyad upon receiving PSLE Results

Group 2 –               Students from mainstream schools and non-JMS madrasah with PSLE results. Apply with required documents (refer to annex A). You may furnish the results at a later date upon release if you are applying earlier.

Group 3 –               Students who has NOT undergone Singapore Education system ie ;-

Returning Singaporean without PSLE to undertake a school placement exam – SPEARS.  Details can be found in MOE website :

International Students without PSLE to undertake an exam with PACT.  Details can be found in this website :

Apply with the above exam results together with required documents in Annex A.

However due to limited vacancies in our school, students from non-affiliate school will only be considered if their aggregate score for PSLE is above 220.


Documents Required

  • Copy of Applicant’s Examination Certificates including PSLE / iPSLE or PACT or SPERS results.
  • Copy of Applicant’s School Reports for Last Two Years
  • Two Recent Passport-sized Photographs of Applicant
  • Copy of Applicant’s Singapore BC / NRIC / Passport
  • Any documents supporting student’s contribution, achievements, unique talent, etc
  • Copy of Applicant’s speech / language / psycho-educational / psychologist reports or evaluation record for Applicants diagnosed with learning disability condition (if applicable)
  • Application fees of $20.00 non refundable.

A registration fee of $50.00 is only payable when the results are announced and your child is selected to attend our school.


Financial Assistance Scheme

Eligibility criteria for application:

Priority is to Assist students from Zakat Recipient Families,

or belonging to a family whose monthly household per-capita-income (PCI) of not more than $300 per household member and the applicant does not have more than one (1) sibling applying for PROMAS in the same year.

Successful applicants will be offered : $540 for Non-Zakat and $1080 for Zakat

The safety and well-being of every pupil is paramount.  Hence, the school has provided a Student Protection Plan by NTUC Income to insure your child/ward against accidents related to all school activities.  Premium of $5.00 per student payable annually.

Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah’s scholarship programme reinforces our commitment in promoting and recognising educational excellence, while ensuring equal access to our future ready curriculum.


Scholarships Details

Applicants must be goal oriented, self-motivated, leaders who display excellence in academics and Islamic studies.

  • The MAI Award for Academic Excellence
    • Offered to 10 students from Madrasah Al-Irsyad Zuhri who achieved outstanding performance in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)
  • The Ust Abdul Rahman Harun Scholarship
    • Offered to students from national primary schools, international school, non-JMS madrasahs, who achieved outstanding performance in the PSLE or iPSLE or equivalent internationally recognised examinations.

Both scholarships includes 100% free school fee for 2 years in the lower secondary program (Sec 1 & Sec 2)

Financial Assistance

Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah is committed to attracting the most academically talented students independent of their parent’s financial situation. To this end, MAI has a financial assistance program. The aim is to assist families who are unable to afford the full fee.


Eligibility and Awards


All families who meet the Monthly household Per-Capita-Income of not more than $300 for non-”zakat” and S$350 for “zakat” recipients are eligible to apply for financial assistance.


Financial assistance are limited to a maximum of S$540 (non-”zakat”) and S$1080 (“zakat”) of the total fees annually. It does not cover any other fees or expenses such as application fees, enrollment fees, lunch or uniforms.


All families are expected to contribute to the cost of their child’s independent school education. Financial assistance is provided as a grant, not a loan, so repayment is not necessary.
